Turnier Der Meister 2018

This week is going to take place in Cottbus, Germany, the 43rd edition of the Turnier Der Meister, one of the most important World Cup events of FIG calendar. This year, this meet serves as part of the olympic qualification process. More than 200 athletes, among men's and women's, are set to compete, including reigning uneven bars world champion Nina Derwael and olympic parallel bars champion Oleg Vernyayev.

The competition starts on Thursday, November 22nd, with qualification round from both MAG and WAG. Here you can find a full guide to follow and watch the event, check it out.

Highlights

  • Fan Yilin is back. The 19-year-old Chinese, former world champion on uneven bars, is back to the gym after losing this year Doha Championships owing to an injury.
  • Jade Carey for all around. This World Cup doesn't have all-around final event, but American Jade Carey is listed to compete in all four events.
  • Denisa Golgota is the only Romanian here. She will compete in all four events as well.
  • Rebeca Andrade will finally perform her two vaults, in order to fight for a medal on this event.
  • Rhys McClenaghan had to be withdrawn because of a shoulder injury.
  • Dipa Karmakar is here to compete on vault, beam and floor. She is going to fight for a olympic spot through FIG world cup events.


Competition format

This world cup consist of: qualification and final rounds. Participation is limited to two gymnasts per national federation on each apparatus. The eight top scores advances to the finals.
