The most important Romanian gymnast from the last quad, Larisa Iordache, multiple World and European medalist, is back to training. Iordache, operated in early September for the third time on her achille tendon, said yesterday that she is recovering very well and starting physical training in the gym.

"I still have to see my doctor in Viena to know wether I'm ready to resume training on my full capacity. For now I'm trying to keep my body healthy and in shape, so that as soon as I get the green light from the doctor I'm ready to train. I feel good. I see the surgery results day after day. I hope that next year will be very good (for me) and for our gymnastics, and we'll be able to achieve the best results.

The last time we saw her competing was in the 2017 World Gymnastics Championships, Montreal, where she suffered an injury during her warm up on floor and had to be withdrawn from the competition. Now, she returns to the gym and hopes to help Romania on its battle for a spot on the next Olympic Games, to be held in Tokyo in 2020.

Iordache is considered one of the most talented gymnasts from the last Romanian generation, but her career has been marked by injuries and misfortunes. In 2012, her debut year as a senior, she suffered a foot injury while preparing for the Olympics, which prevented her from competing at her best in London.
